25x Increase in Biomass - Bio-Mimetic Biomaterial Producing Microorganisms
We optimized an industry-oriented fermentation workflow for microorganisms producing bio-mimetic biomaterials, achieving a 25-fold increase in biomass yield through process optimization and DOE.

Alagene translated aflask protocol for a modified protein expressed in E. coli into an industry-oriented fermentation workflow, addressing a critical challenge: a fed reagent that quickly becomes toxic to the bacteria. A focused qualitativestudy identified the three process factors with the largest impact, and afractional-factorial DOE was used as the planning framework to reduceexperimental burden while targeting the most informative run.
The protein was producedin a fermenter under those planned conditions, resulting in a 25-fold increase in biomass. Providing aclear roadmap for next-phase development.
